Worship
“From its beginning to its end a service of public worship should be characterized by that simplicity which is an evidence of sincerity and by that beauty and dignity which are a manifestation of holiness.”

FAQs
What should I wear?
There is no required dress code for our worship services. You will likely see a fairly wide range in what people wear to worship at Good Hope Presbyterian Church. Like in any area of life, a good guide is to dress in a way that you feel fits the importance of the occasion.
Why does the pastor wear a robe?
Our pastor usually wears a simple, black robe (historically called a Geneva robe). The purpose is to take attention off of the man himself and to place attention instead on the office of the minister and his calling to preach the Word of God. A comparison could be drawn to a judge’s robe which draws attention not to the person, but to the authority of the judge’s office.
What if I’m not a Christian?
We’re glad that you would consider joining us for a worship service! Feel free to simply listen and observe our worship service, though you are certainly free to participate as you feel comfortable. We will happily answer any questions you have about God and worship.
How often do you take the Lord's Supper? Do you use wine or grape juice?
We ordinarily partake of the Lord’s Supper every week. The Lord’s Supper was given to us by Jesus himself to remind us of his death for us on the cross and to spiritually nourish and grow those who have faith in him. We use wine and bread in the Lord’s Supper though we also offer grape juice and gluten-free bread as an option.
What music do you sing?
We use the Trinity Hymnal for many of our psalm and hymn selections. We also sing a number of other modern hymns, songs, and psalm arrangements which we print in our worship guide for each service. Our priorities are to sing songs which are biblical, singable, and beautiful.
What options do you have for children?
Jesus welcomed the little children. We believe they belong in worship with the family of God and are not a distraction to our worship. It is our hope that the children in our church will learn by our teaching and example how to love and worship our God. At the same time, we understand that it is sometimes difficult to keep the littlest ones in the service. We have an area at the back of the room for small children. If you need to step out of the service with a child, feel free to use the space by the entryway.
